Renal Calculus

Renal Calculus by Leslie N. Pyrah
English | PDF | 1979 | 386 Pages | ISBN : 3642671268 | 71.8 MB

Stone in the urinary tract has fascinated the medical profession from the earliest times and has played an important part in the development of surgery. The earliest major planned operations were for the removal of vesical calculus; renal and ureteric calculi provided the first stimulus for the radiological investigation of the viscera, and the biochemical investigation of the causes of calculus formation has been the training ground for surgeons interested in metabolic disorders.

Introduction to Calculus and Analysis: Volume II

Introduction to Calculus and Analysis: Volume II by Richard Courant
English | PDF | 1989 | 976 Pages | ISBN : 1461389607 | 63.3 MB

The new Chapter 1 contains all the fundamental properties of linear differential forms and their integrals. These prepare the reader for the introduction to higher-order exterior differential forms added to Chapter 3.

Calculus in Vector Spaces without Norm

Calculus in Vector Spaces without Norm by A. Frölicher, W. Bucher
English | PDF | 1966 | 159 Pages | ISBN : 3540036121 | 6.9 MB

As emphasized by J. calculus primarily deals with the approximation (in a neighborhood of some point) of given mappings of vector spaces by linear mappings. The approximating linear map has to be a "good" approximation in some precise sense: it has to be "tangent" to the given map. A very useful notion of "tangent" can easily be introduced for maps between normed vector spaces; it leads to the notion of mappings and gives, in particular for Banach spaces, a very satisfactory theory (cf. Chap. VIII of [3]).

Student’s Guide to Calculus by J. Marsden and A. Weinstein: Volume III by Frederick H. Soon
English | PDF | 1986 | 302 Pages | ISBN : 0387963480 | 20.9 MB

This Student Guide is exceptional, maybe even unique, among such guides in that its author, Fred Soon, was actually a student user of the textbook during one of the years we were writing and debugging the book. (He was one of the best students that year, by the way. ) Because of his background, Fred has taken, in the Guide, the point of view of an experienced student tutor helping you to learn calculus. \~ile we do not always think Fred's jokes are as funny as he does, we appreciate his enthusiasm and his desire to enter into communication with his readers; since we nearly always agree with the mathe matical judgements he has made in explaining the material, we believe that this Guide can serve you as a valuable supplement to our text.

Student’s Guide to Basic Multivariable Calculus by Karen Pao
English | PDF | 1993 | 180 Pages | ISBN : 0387979751 | 15.7 MB

This study guide is intended to aid your understanding of multivariable calculus. We have organized it into chapters and sections corresponding to Basic Multivariable Calculus by Jerrold E. Marsden, Anthony ]. Tromba, and Alan Weinstein (Springer-Verlag/W.H. Freeman, 1993). Each section contains Goals, Study Hints, and (most important) Solutions to Every Other Odd Exercise. In addition, we have written chapter tests at the end of each review section.

Calculus: A Lab Course with MicroCalc®

Calculus: A Lab Course with MicroCalc® by Harley Flanders
English | PDF | 1996 | 342 Pages | ISBN : 0387944966 | 27.6 MB

Preface Objectives of This Book • To teach calculus as a laboratory science, with the computer and software as the lab, and to use this lab as an essential tool in learning and using calculus. • To present calculus and elementary differential equations with a minimum of fuss-through practice, not theory. • To stress ideas of calculus, applications, and problem solving, rather than definitions, theorems, and proofs. • Toemphasize numerical aspects: approximations, order of magnitude, concrete answers to problems.

Advanced Calculus: A Differential Forms Approach

Advanced Calculus: A Differential Forms Approach by Harold M. Edwards
English | PDF | 1994 | 523 Pages | ISBN : 1461266882 | 38.4 MB

My first book had a perilous childhood. With this new edition, I hope it has reached a secure middle age. The book was born in 1969 as an "innovative text book"-a breed everyone claims to want but which usu ally goes straight to the orphanage. My original plan had been to write a small supplementary textbook on differen tial forms, but overly optimistic publishers talked me out of this modest intention and into the wholly unrealistic ob jective (especially unrealistic for an unknown 30-year-old author) of writing a full-scale advanced calculus course that would revolutionize the way advanced calculus was taught and sell lots of books in the process.

Maple via Calculus: A Tutorial Approach by Robert J. Lopez
English | PDF | 1994 | 178 Pages | ISBN : 0817637710 | 10.8 MB

Modern software tools like Maple have the potential to alter radically the way mathematics is taught, learned, and done. Bringing such tools into the classroom during lectures, assignments, and examinations means that new ways oflooking at mathematics can becomepermanent fixtures ofthe curriculum. It is universal access that will make a software-based approach to mathematics become the norm. In 1988, with NSF funding under an III grant, I had the opportunity to bring Maple into the calculus classroom at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

Calculator Calculus

Calculator Calculus by George McCarty
English | PDF | 1982 | 270 Pages | ISBN : 0419129103 | 4.2 MB

How THIS BOOK DIFFERS This book is about the calculus. What distinguishes it, however, from other books is that it uses the pocket calculator to illustrate the theory. A computation that requires hours of labor when done by hand with tables is quite inappropriate as an example or exercise in a beginning calculus course. But that same computation can become a delicate illustration of the theory when the student does it in seconds on his calculator.

Calculus Made Easy

Calculus Made Easy by Silvanus P. Thompson
English | PDF | 1998 | 337 Pages | ISBN : 0333772431 | 20.5 MB

Calculus Made Easy has been a classic introduction to the subject ever since it was first published by Silvanus P.Thompson in 1910. In the first major revision of the text since 1946, Martin Gardner - the 'Mathematical Games' columnist for Scientific American and author of over 50 books and innumerable articles - has thoroughly updated the text to reflect recent developments in method and terminology, written an extensive preface and three new chapters, and added more than 20 recreational problems for practice and enjoyment. He has transformed this classic primer into a modern masterpiece that explains the timeless concepts of calculus in a contemporary and user-friendly voice.

Propositional and Predicate Calculus: A Model of Argument by Derek Goldrei
English | PDF(True) | 2005 | 321 Pages | ISBN : 1852339217 | 4.4 MB

At the heart of the justification for the reasoning used in modern mathematics lies the completeness theorem for predicate calculus. This unique textbook covers two entirely different ways of looking at such reasoning. Topics include:
- the representation of mathematical statements by formulas in a formal language;

Radiation in Enclosures: Elliptic Boundary Value Problem by Aristide Mbiock
English | PDF | 2000 | 219 Pages | ISBN : 354066095X | 17.3 MB

This graduate textbook is concerned with both the formulation and the solution of radiation heat transfer problems in enclosures. The book is essentially self-contained and includes a brief historical survey. The foundations are carefully discussed from the point of view of the exact mathematical basis of boundary value problems and their variational solutions as well as of the physical foundations. The computational methods developed by the authors are used in engineering applications. The combinaton of exact mathematical modelling with numerical skills makes this a unique textbook.
